Below there is a draft of its preface. We’d like to know your opinion about the idea of the publication and the contents of the preface. Dear readers! We would like to bring to your attention the second collection – extended and improved – of conversations with Guruji Shailendra Sharma and eyewitness accounts concerning him. The name of this person is cloaked in mysteries in spite of the fact that Shailendra himself never conceals anything about his life. He is known all over the world as the Guru of one of the most ancient Kriya-Yoga traditions having among his disciples beside Indians numerous Europeans, Americans and Russians. For the citizens of Govardhan and its outskirts Shailendra is a person who has summoned the flood, who is able to disappear in public and who has saved a lot of Indians from seemingly incurable deceases and lethal injuries. Some are seized by superstitious fear when the name of Shailendra – a person who has been living for 17 years in a smashan (a cremation ground) – is mentioned. Some of the materials submitted here may seem fantastic. However all the texts of the given collection are pure documentary. Dictaphone-recorded stories of eyewitnesses – people of India’s different regions and social clusters – seem to the compilers as trustworthy and frank as the philosophical observations of Guruji sound deep and unconventional. The compilers express enormous gratitude to Shailendra Sharma for his patience, open-heartedness and constant readiness to answer any questions. They also consider themselves very much obliged to all their forerunners who had recorded and published conversations with Shailendra rendering invaluable assistance in the preparation of the given collection. However it will not be an exaggeration to affirm that the given collection of Shailendra Sharma’s sayings is the most complete of all published up to now. The materials of the collection are going to be assumed as the basis for the documentary book about Shailendra Sharma now being prepared for the press. The compilers will be happy to receive comments and remarks of any kind which will be certainly taken into consideration while creating the book.
